You might shoot EE sales an email about that. I know you would need a commercial license for a business website, but for a simple showcase of work, I’m not so sure. It won’t actually be your business site per say, just a showcase, so you may be able to get away with the free version.

I have read a lot of good things about ExpressionEngine, however as I am occasionally freelancing and will use this site as a showcase, I would have to pay for it.

I used to be a user of TXP. For about a year actually. Once I discovered ExpressionEngine though, I made the jump.
